Charlie is an excellent guide.
He took on board our wish list and came up with an itinerary that reflected it;
he showed us a range of things that kept us all enthused;
he used public transport very well to give us a feel for the real city, not just the tourist city;
and he did the near-impossible of finding an inexpensive place for lunch that was both authentically Japanese (important for me and my wife) and that met with approval from our fussy kids (aged 8 and 5).
And he was friendly and personable throughout, with great command of English.
Could not ask for anything more.
Charlie was informative, attentive and very flexible with our schedule on the day.
He did a great job showing us some beautiful sights and helping us get the most out of our 24hrs in Kyoto.
I would highly recommend Charlie if you are pressed for time and want someone reliable, friendly and fun to show you around this beautiful city.
It's been a few month since my mother and I explored Kyoto under Charlie's informative and amazing guide services.
Charlie tailored the day's schedule according to not only our interests, but the fact that my elderly mother might not be able to walk long distances.
We explored Kiyomidzudera, Kyoto's sake street. the Fushimi Inari Shrine and Nishiki Street Market. Conversations continued throughout the day's tour as Charlie took effort to not only share historical information but etiquette as well.
Another plus point about engaging Charlie's services is being able get in touch with Kyoto's lesser known gems such as less-touristy restaurants that are only famous among locals.
I'll definitely recommend Charlie's tour guide services to anyone seeking to go beyond Kyoto's stunningly beautiful facade and understand more about the underlying stories.
